Five of the Largest Industrial Parks in the World

Industrial parks are there for a reason. May it is for employment, economic goals, finances, and investments; truly it has a lot of benefits for the region.

Recently I visited Cavite Industrial Park and I am amazed by it. To my curiosity, I search the net and here I found out the five of the largest Industrial Parks in the world.

Kizad or Khalifa Industrial Zone

Located almost equidistant between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the Khalifa Industrial Zone is part of a plan by Abu Dhabi Government to launch a multibillion-dollar industrial park and ports operation that will achieve economic diversification by 2030. It would be the emirate’s first industrial free zone offering 100% foreign ownership.

Kizad’s strategic location links the east and the west as well as its intermodal infrastructure linking sea, air, rail and roads. This will give the investors efficient access to over 4.5 billion consumers within four different time zones.

Its primary objective is to attract foreign investments that will generate job opportunities for the people.

Alberta’s Industrial Heartland

Known also as Upgrader Alley or the Heartland, this 533 square-kilometer of land split between the City of Fort Saskatchewan, Lamont County, Strathcona Country and Sturgeon Country as well as 49 square-kilometers in northeast Edmonton is a joint land use planning and development by these five municipalities in Edmonton Region.

The main objective of the industrial park is to attract investment in the chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas industries in the region.

King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC)

KAEC is a megaproject by Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the then king f Saudi Arabia. It has a total development area of 173 square-kilometers. It is located along the coast of the Red Sea and around 100 kilometers north of Jeddah.

The City is divided into six main components 

1. Industrial Valley – about 63 square kilometers
2. King Abdullah Port – about 13.8 square kilometers 
3. Residential Areas – planned to include 260,000 apartments and 56,000 villas
4. Sea Resort – designed to feature services and amenities to draw local and foreign tourists
5. Educational Zone – planed to bring Saudis technology in globally competitive levels
6. Central Business Districts – about 3.8 square kilometers of office space, hotels, and commercial spaces

Nisku Industrial Park

Nisku Industrial Park was established in 1972. It has emerged as an important service center for the Edmonton Capital Region and become the largest industrial park in Western Canada.

It is 2,044 hectares in size and became a home to over 400 businesses that employs more than 6,000 workers.

Tahoe Reno Industrial Center

The Tahoe Reno Industrial Center is the largest industrial park in the US.It is located in McCarran, Storey County Nevada. It occupies over the half of the land mass in Storey County and is the home of more than 160 companies.
